System76 does not sell your data. Your privacy matters. We’re committed to developing products that respect your privacy and operating our business in a manner that protects and manages your data responsibly and transparently.

What data do we collect?

We collect personal identification information including name, email address, shipping and billing address and phone number.

How do we collect your data?

You directly provide System76 with most of the data we collect. We collect and process data when you:

  • Place an order   
  • Request to receive a newsletter
  • Ask a sales question through an online form or email
  • Voluntarily complete a survey to provide feedback
  • Use or view our website

How will we use your data?

System76 collects data so that we can:

  • Process your order and manage your account
  • Provide order updates
  • Provide sales, service and technical support
  • Understand website visitor trends and the effectiveness of our marketing outreach
  • If subscribed to a newsletter, email you company and product information    
  • Through voluntary surveys, better understand your use and satisfaction with our products

We partner with companies for order processing, account management, shipping, data hosting, and newsletter marketing. When we process your order, we may send your data to, and also use the resulting information from, a partner company to prevent fraudulent purchases. Where personal information is provided to third parties it is subject to contractual protections.

How do we store your data?

We securely store your data on our hosting provider, AWS. We retain your data only for as long as necessary to provide our services to you, to maintain our records, or as otherwise required by law. Please note that some of our database backups may store your personal information for up to 30 days after deletion. Personal data may be transferred to the United States for processing an order and the laws of the U.S. may not provide the same protection and the laws of the EU.

What are your data protection rights?

We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

The right to access – You have the right to request copies of your personal data.

The right to rectification – You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request that we complete the information you believe is incomplete.

The right to erasure – You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to data portability – You have the right to request that we transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.

The right to non-discrimination – You have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights.

The right to opt-out of marketing – If you have agreed to receive marketing, you may always opt-out at a later date. You have the right at any time to stop us from contacting you for marketing purposes.

If you make a request, we have 10 days to acknowledge the request and 30 days to respond to you. You may use an authorized agent to make a rights request and we may need to take steps to verify you or your agent’s identity. In certain circumstances we may not be able to honor your request.

Cookies

Our website uses a first-party functionality cookie to store your login and cart status. You can choose to disable or selectively turn off cookies in your browser settings, but this may affect how you are able to interact with our site and others.

Pop!_OS

System76 does not collect or store any information from Pop!_OS user installations. Minimal OS and hardware data is temporarily used—not stored—to provide updates and connectivity verification. Pop!_OS does not collect or transmit telemetry data or error reports.

Pop!_OS software sources include System76, Ubuntu, and Flathub hosted repositories. Your Pop!_OS installation will connect to these sources to keep your software up to date and secure and to install additional software that you’ve selected.

Pop!_OS provides firmware updates from System76 and LVFS (Linux Vendor Firmware Service) repositories.
