Your work will directly contribute to our customers ability to get the most out of their System76 products.

As the perfect candidate, you love taking complex concepts and distilling them into easily understood documentation. You love both hardware and software and like to tinker with both to understand how best to communicate their features. Key responsibilities

Software Product Documentation

  • Pop!_OS documentation including features, release notes, support documentation, and how to’s
  • Document System76 first-party application features and usage

Training and Testing

  • Create training manuals for the Technical Support and QA teams
  • Help document test plans for the QA team

Manage Documentation

  • Maintain
  • Keep documentation organized and up-to-date
  • Remove old documentation
  • Maintain new documentation repositories as they become necessary
  • Select and adopt a uniform writing style across all media for consistency within and outside the organization


  • Work with Engineering and UX to understand and document products and author test plans
  • Work with the Care and Support teams to fulfill customer documentation needs
  • Work with management teams to create training manuals
  • Work with external partners to understand their documentation needs

Hardware Product Documentation

  • Troubleshooting documentation
  • Assist with hardware guides and Tech Docs -

Required skills and experience

  • 2-4 years experience as a Technical Writer for software or hardware products
  • Public technical documentation available as a reference
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Linux know-how and passion
  • Knowledge of computer components
  • Highly organized with impeccable attention to detail
  • Passion and a desire to learn
  • Bonus - experience using Git and GitHub


  • $60-$65k annual + benefits
